I spent many years of my life as an enthusiastic Christian, but even so, I often struggled to believe that the resurrection of Jesus Christ actually happened in history. And my heart had a really hard time rejoicing in what my mind couldn't accept as real and true. I do believe that Jesus lived in history, but that was a very long time ago, and he is a long dead failed first century apocalyptic preacher. I don't like writing those words because there is a part of me that still wants to believe. But the honest truth is that I don't believe that the resurrection of Jesus Christ ever actually happened. I think it's a powerful religious myth, and Jews for Judaism has a great video explaining how this myth developed over time after Jesus died. This is a lengthy video, but I think it is well worth the time to watch and consider.
